Monthly Meetings for Autumn 2026, Spring 2027 and Summer 2027

Guest speaker talks, which are preceded by a Monthly Meeting, take place at the Hub on the second Tuesday of each month from 2.00-4.00pm, during the term.

Tuesday, September 22nd 2026: Dr. Emily Turner from Two Saints (a local homeless and supported accommodation charity) will deliver a talk entitled 100 years of Tremletts the Chemist. She will talk about the donations from this long-standing local firm of pharmaceutical chemists that have been given to the City's History Centre and their current exhibition in the City Museum. Tuesday, 19th January 2027: Members of the Portsmouth Climate Collective will present a documentary - The Peoples' Emergency Briefing - calling for local and national climate action. Portsmouth Climate Collective is a coalition of concerned citizens and local organizations, including Portsmouth Climate ActionGreenpeace PortsmouthTurning TidesPortsmouth Friends of the Earth, and various faith groups. It was established shortly after the November 2025 National Emergency Briefing to coordinate local civic engagement on climate issues. Tuesday, 23rd February 2027: Jeremy Prescott from Sacrifice & Remembrance will give a talk entitled The Unknown Soldier. Sacrifice & Remembrance is a presentation series developed by Jeremy that supports the veterans mental health charity Combat Stress.  Initially funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to commemorate the centenary of World War I, the project has delivered over 26,000 presentations to more than 660 venues. Tuesday, April 20th 2027: Tara McKinney-Marinus from the University of Portsmouth will give a talk entitled Betty Joel and her Portsmouth Craftsmen. This talk will present information about a research project concerning this Portsmouth furniture and interior designer who worked during the interwar period. Tuesday, May 18th 2027: Dr Nick Pamment and Ms Jac Reed from the University of Portsmouth's Institute of Criminal Justice Studies will give a talk entitled Wildlife Crime which will describe wildlife crime, the illegal wildlife trade and what is being done to counter wildlife crime.
